AYC was founded in 2007 by a small group of traditionally trained Yoga Teachers dedicated to promoting the ancient teachings of Yoga.
Alison has been practising Yoga since 1992 and has studied under the guidance of her teacher and friend, Helen MacBroom in the Param Para tradition for 12 years. She completed the Yoga Fellowship of Northern Ireland Teaching Diploma in 2007 and also holds an Advanced Yoga Studies Post Graduate Certificate in Raja Yoga and Yoga Tutors Certicate in Yoga Philosophy. She is a Yoga Tutor for Belfast Metropolitan College as well as teaching General and Speciaist Yoga Classes for Ananda Yoga Circle and the Yoga Studio, Newry
Helen has been practising yoga since 1966. She first trained with Yogi Mahesh of Bombay, India for two years. Later she was taught by Peter and Janie Lauer from America. From 1970 to 1974 she attended the Bihar School of Yoga, Belfast Ashram, where she was trained in many aspects of Yoga Pracitce and Lifestyle by Paramahamsa Satyananda Saraswati and Swami Atmananda, culminating in initition into the esoteric science of Kriya Yoga. Helen obtained the British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma in 1974, and also holds a teaching diploma from the Internation Yoga Fellowship and a diploma from The All India Board of Yoga.
She has also studiend yoga philosophy extensively and practised Bhakti Yoga under the guidance of Saunaka Risi Dass at Iskcon Temples at Innis Rath, Co Fermanagh and Belfast.
Helen has been teaching Yoga in the community for BELB and privately for over 40 years and still teachers Yoga Philosophy on the teacher training courses of the Yoga Fellowship of Northern Ireland and Yoga Therapy Ireland as well as supervising and imparting her knowledge and guidance in Meditation, Philosophy and Kriya Yoga to members and students of Ananda Yoga Circle of which she is a co-founder.
